Completed Build - Hobbyboss 1/72 Brewster Buffalo.

The last of my SOD builds for now - Hobbyboss's 'easybuild' 1/72 Brewster Buffalo - this one painted up as aircraft based in Burma in 1941.  I do like these HB kits, they always remind me of modern day Matchbox kits - quick simple builds that look good when finished. I had to convert this one slightly to make it an RAF machine rather than the USN aircraft boxed - I had to reshape the tail-cone (as there's no hook) and change the tailwheel (a spare from an old Hurricane kit). I also scratch-built more detail into the interior.  This kit was also special to me as it's my first attempt at airbrushing and freehand camouflage. It was painted with whatever paints I had to hand (water based acrylics) and overall, whilst not perfect, I'm happy with it as a first attempt.  The decals were supplier by some of the good folks over on the UAMF - thanks guys!  Again, thanks for looking.  Cheers!

Completed Build - Airfix 1/72 Gloster Javelin F.A.W.9R

Another one of my recent SOD finishes - the old Airfix (ex-Heller) 1/72 Javelin kit - this one built as a FAW9R, based in Singapore in 1966.  Again, this is brush painted using a mixture of Hataka, Citadel and Humbrol acrylics, using my new Army Painter wet palette. It's not a bad kit for it's age, it actually went together very well, and certainly the best game in town until somebody brings out a new tooling!  It's great to have a Javelin on the shelf though - it's a total beast of an aircraft, bigger than the Tornado GR.1 I have sat next to it.    Cheers all, and thanks for visiting!

Completed Build - Monogram 1/48 Thunderbolt mk.II

Recently (since Easter) I've been trying to clear of the pile of kits I've had on the ''Shelf of Doom'', I've actually finished 7 kits over the last few weeks, which I'll start sharing here... The first off was Monograms really nice golden oldie, it's 1/48 P-47D Thunderbolt - here finished with Xxtradecal's 'Yanks With Roundels' sheet 4, as an aircraft that served in the Burma/China theatre with the RAF's South East Asia Command. As ever - the paints are Hataka, Citadel and Humbrol acrylics, slapped on with a brush.  I hope you like it!  Cheers!
