Father's Day Builds

So back in 2021 I received four little red-box Airfix 1/72 kits for Father's day, these were...

  • Boulton-Paul Defiant mk.I
  • Hawker Typhoon mk.Ib
  • Fw-190
  • Hawker Hurricane mk.I
These kits really re-ignited my passion for small simple kits, and I've had a lot of fun building them - probably in fact the most fun I've had modelling in the last few years. Following that, and sensing a (hopefully) growing family tradition, on Father's day 2022 I also received a D.H Vampire T.11 (bought whilst at the D.H. Museum near St. Albans) - which was started on the same day.

There's something about these simple little cheap kits, built from the box, that bring back a bit of the fun I had as a kid buying Matchbox kits from the village hardware shop with my pocket money.

Update - 2023.

This year I got a rather natty (see what I did there) Airfix 1/72 Folland Gnat T.1 in the Red Arrows boxing - can't wait to start it.

So far I've yet to build the Hawker Typhoon or the Gant, but these are the ones I have completed.
